On Friday evening, travellers had managed to access our site on Sidegate Road and set up camp. The initial small group of caravans increased over the weekend to half a dozen caravans, vans and cars. After contacting the police on Friday to make them aware of the situation, the notice to vacate the site was served on Sunday 8th July personally by Jennifer Beesley, East Coast Hospice Chairman.
The situation is now in the hands of the charity’s lawyers. Jennifer met with the Police at the charity’s offices today, who were very constructive. We are very disappointed and upset that anybody would do this to such a special site.
... in months, weeks, days, hours.
I want to live free of pain,
free of indignity, free of fear, free of loneliness.
Give me shelter, give me your hand.
Give me your care, your understanding, give me your love.
Then let me go peacefully, and help my family to understand."
