East Coast Hospice are pleased to announce that the Acle St. Edmund Youth Orchestra (SEYO) have chosen to support ECH’s efforts to build an Adult Hospice for the local community.
SEYO was formed in 2006 to provide a link for young musicians between Primary and High School music, having been recommended by their respective music teachers. The overall standard is Grade 4/5 and all of the students love performing at around 30 events per year.
Many of these events are performed Pro Gratis which led Orchestra organiser, Elaine Brown, to think perhaps they could play and raise money for a Charity whilst doing so. Elaine has personal experience of the benefits provided by a Hospice, so started research into Hospice care available in this community.
Elaine’s research led her to the offices of ECH, where she was given a “warm welcome by an enthusiastic team” –Elaine said. She proposed that the orchestra would have collection buckets at various events for the charity and help to ‘Raise the Roof’ of Margaret Chadd House.
Community Fundraiser Jeff Wood, visited the Orchestra to listen to a rehearsal and after gave them a talk about the hospice plans and met with the parents. “I was so impressed with the standard of music I have heard tonight, they are such talented youngsters and had some very good questions about ECH too. I am very excited to have the opportunity to be working with them over the coming months.”
SEYO will be performing for ECH on Sunday 22nd November at Santa’s Grotto when he visits Fusions Hair Salon in Gorleston and in Sainsbury’s on Saturday 5th December.
