Silence in lock-down.
We were absolutely delighted to receive a message on Sunday from Lorna Howard informing us that her daughter Emma had completed a sponsored silence to raise funds for our appeal.
Just wanted to share with you some amazing news. My 10 year old daughter, Emma did a sponsored silence yesterday to raise money for yourselves. The total so far is £294 which is amazing as she only set out to raise £50. If you knew Emma, she doesn’t stop talking so it was a challenge that we knew would be extremely difficult but I strongly supported her as it wasn’t just yourselves that benefitted.
Hopefully you should see the funds come through as it was done through donations on my Facebook page.
Keep safe, Lorna Howard “
We received a couple of updates informing us that the total had now reached £309 – as you can see by the image so kindly provided by and reproduced with the permission of Lorna and Emma.
This is a wonderful gesture and reminds us that even though our own fundraising efforts have been cancelled in these unprecedented times, you too can be an Emma and do something to help us get the hospice built. While our shops are currently closed and our events curtailed, therefore reducing our income to zero, you can still help by raising funds in your own way. Work on the project continues – it has not stopped, we are determined to build.
We are truly grateful to Emma for her inspiring support – it is heartening that one so young realises the need for a hospice for the people of the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area. If we could get more people doing their own thing, no matter how small, it really would be a great achievement from the community for the community.
