The eagerly anticipated second annual fundraising event in aid of East Coast Hospice- Fashion X, exploded with fashion and excitement and raised over £1700 to help ‘raise the roof’ of Margaret Chadd House.
Held in the palatial Royal Assembly Rooms – Masonic Lodge, Great Yarmouth on Saturday 16th of April members of the public were treated to two fashion shows and a variety of therapies; retail, beauty, cake and otherwise! TV and radio presenter, Helen McDermott compared the evening with Her Worship the Mayor (Cllr Shirley Weymouth) attending and calling the raffle near the end of the evening.
The night began with a fashion show in the grand Temple, with gleaming chandeliers overhead, the volunteer models strutted their stuff to the likes of The Beach Boys and Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, wearing the finest pre-loved donations available in all 9 East Coast Hospice charity shops. The show ended with December 1963, ‘Oh what a night’ as the models showcased their glamourous evening wear in a magnificent finale.

“Calendar girls? not likely” said Caister Women’s Institute President Ruth Bond-Holland. “Not unless we can wear these clothes”. The local group were delighted to be modelling clothes sourced from the East Coast Hospice shops. Having been given a room full of clothes to choose from, members were keen to show off the variety that was available.
“We’ve had really good fun, right through from choosing the outfits, rehearsing the show and the night itself.” said WI Committee member Gillian Staff. Caister WI were delighted to be asked to model in this year’s Fashion X Show. “Not only have we had the opportunity to help a wonderful good cause, but seeing all those smiling appreciative faces as we took to the cat-walk was really uplifting” added Ruth. “Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and we were so pleased with the outfits, that we bought most of them!”

With ticket and raffle sales higher than ever, the event made an incredible £1718, as well as raising a significant amount of awareness for the charity and their shops. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the event such a great success, now ECH is planning how to make the event even bigger and even better next year!
